A muslimah dentist

Being a dentist make you work more on people teeth. Emmm ... sound so easy right, patch and pull!! But not as easy as that. When I was in secondary school, I have no intention to be such a wonderful job. I only wanted to be a good medical officer. Then, the turning point of my ambition was a scholarship given by the JPA. written that I must do dentistry. For five years struggling to finish the course without full commitment and interest, I felt so stress and miserable. Luckily I passed all the exam.. and now I am..... A Dentist. My perception on this job was wrong...When I started work at Kangar Dental Clinic, the same feeling still in me.... until one day I thought I should change. I have to be responsible to all my patients. They knew if I were uninterested or unhappy to do work. Every work that we do, we have to give 110% so that you can feel the satisfactory in life right... I don't know who has changed me... perhaps my patient..... they help me to improve myself to be a better dentist in the future. When the perceptions changed, I become more excited to make this work enjoyable and fascinating. My planning for the near future is to pursue my studies. I think being a specialist is a must. I need to improve my knowledge which I think so little, and at the same time....as Sis D Conventry said... we have to improve our Imann too!!... As a muslimah, I'm far behind. I really need to do something so that "akhirat" and 'duniawi' can go together. Insyallah.

You are fortunate enough to have a very noble and promising profession. However, we always need a little bit of motivation, inspiration and convincing to go on. You're getting there, dentist, if not already!

Salam,
congrats on ur blog.
Your profession is important to society for the service that you do. I know how hard being a dentist esp if you're in the government service (hubby was a dentist with the govt a few years bck). Just enjoy what u do and the reward will come naturally.

take care

You inspire me...i am a predental college student and you are doing exactly what i wish to do in the future...please tell me: How are you balancing your family and your career? Thats my biggest fear - that i'll fail in one of those aspects. i want to be a good dentist, but i also want to be a great mother. Is it really possible??
