Choosing a dentist

What should you look for when choosing a dentist?

You may wish to consider several dentists before making your decision. During your first visit, you should be able to determine if this is the right dentist for you. Consider the following:

  • Is the appointment schedule convenient for you?
  • Is the office easy to get to from your home or job?
  • Does the office appear to be clean, neat and orderly?
  • Was your medical and dental history recorded and placed in a permanent file?
  • Does the dentist explain techniques that will help you prevent dental health problems? Is dental health instruction provided?
  • Are special arrangements made for handling emergencies outside of office hours? (Most dentists make arrangements with a colleague or emergency referral service if they are unable to tend to emergencies.)
  • Is information provided about fees and payment plans before treatment is scheduled?
  • Is your dentist a member of the GDC (General Dental Council)? All GDC member dentists voluntarily agree to abide by the high ethical standards reflected in the GDC Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct as a condition of their membership.

You and your dentist are partners in maintaining your oral health. Take time to ask questions and take notes if that will help you remember your dentist's advice. Hope every one of you happy to have a visit to Dental Clinic nearby you at least ones a year.

Aerobic class

Athletics has always been important to my family; my late father played quarterback for his high school football team when they won upper-state championship, followed by my mom, she was also active in sports. Before I even reached the age of five years, my father had taught me how to swing and hit T-Ball. Soon after that, I could hit a fast-pitched baseball and slide into home plate. Hahah! Abis semua mak punya pinggan pecah! Unfortunately, during the 1980s girls were rarely seen play this game as it was very new game. Every now and then I used to play netball or became runner.

Once I began dental school and then again, once I began full-time dental practice, my sedentary lifestyle took its toll on my health and my body: I gained 9 kg in six year (from around 50 to almost 59++). I need to do something. Since my hubby was not around, I think I need to ‘manjakan’ diri by attending spas or going into aerobic class. So pikir punya pikir, I decided to register with one Aerobic class in my town. At first day I was so energetic to attend the class as I wanted to know how it was going on. Aiyaa… the first day was so ‘berterabur’ plus I got back pain, muscle ache. I didn’t gave-up. I went the second day and until now. The session was worth it. Although here and there missing in action, I knew that a strong fitness program was necessary to regain my body and health. My weight remain static, but the difference I noticed was my tummy, getting slimmer sikit la!!! Heheh I hope my husband-getting impress with my new emergence. New look, new style! Nowadays, I feel myself a bit healthier, fit and strong than before as every day I am doing the exercise. It helps me to relax and enjoy myself while doing the movements. I wish I could say “I lost bla-bla pound or kgs”, still hoping for a new weight!! For me if The Almighty chooses me to be healthy through out my life, I am very grateful. That is the point. Good health is for everybody. Take care of food intake, regular exercise, and gain a good happy lifestyle. Do not create stress in our daily life. Be happy and do not worry.
